Austin motorcyclist killed in collision after veering into oncoming traffic on US 79, according to Texas DPS.

A 34-year-old man from Austin died Thursday in a motorcycle crash on US Highway 79 in Milam County.

MILAM COUNTY, Texas — Michael Tyler Morton was involved in a collision while riding his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on US Highway 79 near County Road 334. Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Morton veered into oncoming traffic and struck a 2013 Ford Taurus.

Morton was pronounced dead at the scene, and next of kin have been notified. The driver and a passenger in the Ford Taurus were transported to Baylor Scott & White for medical treatment; their conditions have not been disclosed.

Emergency responders and law enforcement were at the scene to investigate the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
