Deputy Injured in Motorcycle Collision in Hebron, Maryland
HEBRON, Md. – A deputy with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle collision on March 10 at 1:14 p.m.
The incident occurred on Ocean Gateway near Old Railroad Road while the deputy was on routine patrol. The WCSO Collision Reconstruction Unit, along with the Maryland State Police Crash Team, is investigating the incident.
Following the collision, Ocean Gateway was temporarily closed to allow the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to airlift the deputy to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Emergency responders from the Hebron and Mardela Volunteer Fire Departments provided initial medical care before transport.
WCSO Sheriff Mike Lewis expressed gratitude for the quick response from law enforcement, firefighters, EMS personnel, and civilians. Authorities confirmed that the deputy was discharged and returned home by the end of the day on March 10.
An active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.
