Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with School Bus in Tippecanoe County

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — A crash between a motorcycle and a school bus resulted in the death of the motorcyclist Friday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on May 15 at the intersection of State Road 28 and County Road 400 East, just east of Romney. Four students aboard the bus and the driver were unharmed.

According to the Indiana State Police’s preliminary investigation, the Tippecanoe School Corp. bus was southbound on County Road 400 East. After stopping at the intersection with State Road 28, the bus began to turn east. The motorcycle, traveling west on State Road 28, struck the bus.

The motorcyclist was identified by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office as 32-year-old Justin Hurd from Wingate, Indiana. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The students involved were from Wainwright Middle School.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, with no further details released at this time.
