Fatal UTV Crash Under Investigation in Columbus
COLUMBUS, IN — A collision involving a UTV claimed one life on Saturday, October 14, 2023, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on State Road 46 around 5:30 p.m. It involved two vehicles, a UTV and a pickup truck. Emergency responders provided medical aid at the scene, but one individual in the UTV succumbed to injuries.
Columbus Police and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of State Road 46 for several hours as they cleared the scene and conducted an accident reconstruction. Towing services were on site to remove the vehicles involved.
No additional injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, with further updates expected from local officials.
