Motorcyclist Injured in Crash While Fleeing Trooper in Norfolk Tunnel
NORFOLK, VA—A motorcyclist sustained injuries while attempting to evade a trooper in the Downtown Tunnel on the evening of October 2, 2023.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 7:35 p.m. when the motorcyclist, operating a 2021 Yamaha, failed to stop for law enforcement. After a brief pursuit, the motorcycle crashed, resulting in the rider being thrown onto the roadway.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the 29-year-old rider to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Authorities closed two lanes of the tunnel for approximately 45 minutes to facilitate the investigation and cleanup. The Virginia State Police is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
