Motorcyclist Dies After Crash During Pursuit in Bandera County
A motorcyclist died following a crash while fleeing law enforcement in Bandera County, Texas, on October 1, 2023.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper attempted to pull over the motorcyclist on State Highway 173. The motorcyclist, fleeing from the trooper, collided with an SUV near the intersection with FM 1283.
Emergency response teams, including local firefighters and EMS, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. Despite lifesaving efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on site. The rider’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The occupant of the SUV sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention at the scene. As a result of the crash, one lane of SH 173 was closed for several hours to allow for an investigation and cleanup.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and no further details have been released at this time.
