BARTOW COUNTY, GA — An Alabama man died in a motorcycle crash on GA 293 Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12:23 p.m.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, 33-year-old Joseph Willingham of Moody, AL was riding north on GA 293 when he attempted to navigate a left-hand curve. Willingham lost control, veered off the right edge of the roadway, and was thrown from his motorcycle, a Harley Davidson.
The motorcycle subsequently struck a tree and a metal fence post. Willingham suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Bartow County Fire Department and EMS assisted at the location. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Lane closures were in effect during the response and investigation.
