A 30-year-old man died Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Elon Road in Amherst County.
Dakota B. Fitzgerald, of Madison Heights, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash, which occurred at 12:40 p.m., according to the Virginia State Police.
Fitzgerald was traveling westbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle, falling from the bike approximately one-quarter mile east of Cloudcroft Drive. Authorities confirmed that Fitzgerald was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The Virginia State Police are investigating the crash.
