Motorcyclist Killed in San Diego Crash Identified
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 20, 2026) — Authorities identified Alexander Michael Charmoli, 18, of Apache Junction, Arizona, as the motorcyclist who died in a crash on Interstate 805 on March 19.
The incident occurred around 4:31 p.m. while Charmoli was traveling southbound on I-805, just north of Eastgate Mall, when he collided with a sedan, leading to his ejection from the motorcycle.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after receiving 911 calls, providing lifesaving measures before transporting him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Despite efforts, Charmoli was pronounced dead at approximately 5:15 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details regarding the sedan driver and potential additional injuries have not been released.
Lane closures were reported in the area following the incident as officials conducted their investigation.
