At least 25 dead in India as bus ignites following collision with motorcycle.

Deadly Bus Fire in Andhra Pradesh Claims 25 Lives
KURNOOL DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH — A passenger bus caught fire after colliding with a motorcycle, resulting in at least 25 fatalities on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Emergency services responded to the incident shortly after 2:41 p.m. on a highway near Chinnatekuru village. The bus, carrying 44 passengers, was traveling between Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Authorities confirmed that the motorcycle crashed into the bus from behind, igniting the fire that quickly engulfed the vehicle.

According to Senior Police Official Vikrant Patil, 18 passengers escaped with injuries. Some passengers reportedly managed to break windows and jump out before the flames became overwhelming. The motorcycle rider also died in the crash, but the exact number of additional escapees remains unclear.

Witnesses stated that the driver attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful due to the intensity of the fire. Forensic experts have been dispatched to investigate the incident.

Authorities noted that the bus was in motion when the fire erupted, causing significant destruction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.

This is the second deadly bus fire incident in India in less than two weeks, following a similar tragedy in Rajasthan earlier this month.
