DEPTFORD TWP., N.J. — Two 22-year-old women from Pennsylvania were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 55 late Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 57.1. Authorities identified the victims as Ayzia J. Toledo from Bristol and Henrietta Love Carter from Darby.
According to New Jersey State Police, Toledo was driving a BMW when she lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road, overturn, and strike a tree. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services responded, but details on injuries to other motorists or additional vehicles were not reported. The crash necessitated lane closures as investigators worked on the scene.
