Devastated mother honors college football player killed in motorbike crash just days before his 21st birthday.

Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of College Football Player Days Before Birthday in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC — Kelvin Level Broadhurst Jr., a 20-year-old defensive lineman for North Carolina A&T, died in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 40 East around 4:57 PM on Saturday.

According to authorities, Broadhurst lost control of his Ducati motorcycle on a ramp and struck a guardrail. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders from the Greensboro Fire Department and Guilford EMS arrived shortly after the incident. No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, and the highway was temporarily closed during the response.

Broadhurst’s mother, Latoya Robinson-Lyles, expressed her grief, stating she had been planning his 21st birthday celebration before the tragedy. “It just seems unreal because now I’m having to plan his funeral,” she said in a statement to WFMY News.

Originally from Woodland, South Carolina, Broadhurst played in 28 games for the Aggies, recording 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks. His sophomore season was his best, with 19 total tackles across 12 games. He was nearing completion of his junior year at the university.
