Driver Arrested Following Chain Reaction Crash on I-295.

YARMOUTH, ME (WGME) – A woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly causing a multi-car pileup on I-295 and fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on I-295, where 31-year-old Emily Ann Kittredge of Vermont reportedly entered the highway through an authorized-vehicles-only entrance. Authorities said her maneuver into the northbound lane triggered a chain-reaction crash involving three additional vehicles.

Witnesses reported that Kittredge left the scene, but one bystander captured a photograph of her vehicle and license plate.

Kittredge was later apprehended in Portland and faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident, along with other motor vehicle violations.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
