GILFORD, NH — A Goffstown man faced court Tuesday concerning a fatal motorcycle crash that left three people dead.
Anthony J. Summers, 32, appeared in Belknap Superior Court for a brief conference, where Judge Elizabeth Leonard approved his request to attend church services while on house arrest.
Summers is charged with seven felonies, including three counts of negligent homicide while driving under the influence, following a September 20 incident on Lake Shore Road. His vehicle reportedly crossed the center line, colliding with two motorcycles and resulting in the deaths of Scott and Robyn Blomerth, who both died at the scene, and Timothy “TJ” Sullivan, who succumbed to injuries on October 5.
Authorities confirmed that Summers refused a blood draw at the scene and later registered a 0.027 blood alcohol content six hours post-accident, after a warrant was issued. Officers noted his bloodshot eyes at the scene. The defense claims Summers was not impaired, highlighting that one motorcycle operator tested above the legal limit of 0.08.
Summers was initially denied bail and held at the Belknap County House of Corrections, later released on January 21 with stipulations that include no driving. A next dispositional hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on May 22, where options for plea or trial will be discussed.
Leonard noted that the court found release through house arrest appropriate after reviewing information presented at a prior bail hearing.
