Greenville Police Charge 22-Year-Old with Felony DUI Following Fatal Crash on I-385

Greenville, S.C. — A 22-year-old driver faces felony DUI charges after a crash on Interstate 385 that resulted in one death and another person injured on Saturday afternoon.

The collision occurred around 2:40 p.m. near North Pleasantburg Drive. According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Tony Ray Lindsey, 46, of Liberty, South Carolina, was riding a motorcycle when it was struck by a pickup truck driven by Andrew McDowell, 22. Lindsey was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger on the motorcycle was transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.

Authorities conducted an investigation and arrested McDowell, charging him with felony DUI resulting in death, felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury, and possession of cocaine, first offense. He is currently held at the Greenville County Detention Center.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released regarding lane closures or tows related to the incident.
