RIVERTON, Utah (KUTV) — A 21-year-old man died in a collision involving an SUV and an E-motorcycle early Thursday morning.
The accident occurred just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of 1300 West and 12600 South, according to Riverton Police spokesperson Josh Lee. The motorcyclist was traveling west when struck by the SUV.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities noted that the E-motorcycle was pushed 186 feet from the impact site, suggesting that high speed may have contributed to the crash. Investigators are also examining whether one of the vehicles ran a red light.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Lee emphasized that Riverton Police have observed a rise in motor vehicle accidents in recent years and cautioned that E-motorcycles, like the one involved in this incident, are not street legal, which may lead to unawareness among drivers.
