Three people, including an 18-year-old woman, were killed in separate vehicle accidents early Saturday on the North and Northeast Sides of San Antonio.
All three incidents occurred around 2 a.m. The first fatality involved a 47-year-old man on a motorcycle who was pronounced dead shortly before 2 a.m. in the 12700 block of North Interstate 35 in Randolph Hills. Witnesses reported he was speeding when he lost control and struck a trailer.
The second incident claimed the life of Ciana Lurlene Saunders at approximately 2:45 a.m. on North U.S. 281 outside Loop 1604. Police reported her vehicle had stopped due to mechanical failure when a bystander assisted in moving it off the main lanes. As she exited the vehicle, she was struck by another car and was pronounced dead on scene. The driver who hit her remained on-site and showed no signs of intoxication; police indicated no criminal charges are expected.
Authorities confirmed the Bexar County Medical Examiner ruled Saunders’ death an accident due to blunt force injuries.
The third fatality occurred around 3:05 a.m. in the southbound lanes of North U.S. 281, near Encino Ranch. This crash involved a white truck and a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver fled before responders arrived. No further details about the motorcycle driver’s identity have been released.
Emergency response to the incidents included multiple police agencies and medical personnel. Investigations are ongoing across all three crashes.
