Family demands justice months after deadly motorcycle crash in East Greenwich.

A North Kingstown family is seeking answers following the July 16 motorcycle crash that killed 80-year-old Bill Eldred.

Eldred was riding his motorcycle on Frenchtown Road when a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction made a left turn and struck him, authorities said. The turn was noted as illegal due to yellow pavement markings indicating such restrictions.

No charges have been filed against the truck driver. “If he’s not getting charged, why isn’t he getting charged?” questioned Eldred’s daughter, Faye-Ann Hope.

Eldred, a member of the Wampanoag Tribe, was a father to six and had several grandchildren. Hope described him as an “amazing man” and expressed the profound impact of his loss.

At the time of the crash, the area was a construction zone. “I do believe it was a tragic accident,” Hope stated, while maintaining there was no malicious intent from the driver.

East Greenwich police informed NBC 10 News on Wednesday that no decisions have been made regarding potential charges as they continue to review the state police crash report.

The family has also reported missing personal items, including two rings that Eldred frequently wore, which were noted as missing weeks after the incident. The family previously notified Kent County Hospital, where Eldred was pronounced dead, but have not recovered the rings.
