(Yellow Medicine County, MN) — On Friday morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., a fatal accident occurred on Minnesota Highway 274 involving two vehicles near 190th Avenue.
A 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by 41-year-old Jean Hodgman of Echo, lost control due to snow-covered roads while traveling northbound, colliding with a southbound 2024 GMC Acadia driven by 44-year-old Stacy Timm of Montevideo. Hodgman and her 14-year-old passenger, Jonathan Ramos, were pronounced dead at the scene; neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Timm was transported to Granite Falls Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Emergency response included the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Wood Lake Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, and Cottonwood Ambulance. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.
