Fatal Collision in South Reno Claims One Life, Shuts Down Northbound Virginia Street
A fatal motorcycle accident involving a pickup truck occurred on Thursday evening, February 26, in South Reno, leading to a major road closure.
The crash was reported at approximately 5:29 p.m. on northbound South Virginia Street, just north of Damonte Ranch Parkway, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP). Emergency medical personnel pronounced the motorcycle rider, an adult male, dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck remained on-site; however, no additional details regarding any other injuries have been provided. Northbound South Virginia Street is completely shut down from Damonte Ranch Parkway to Bishop Manogue Drive.
While southbound South Virginia Street remains open, traffic is experiencing delays due to “rubbernecking” near the emergency response area. Authorities anticipate that the northbound lanes will remain closed until at least 11:30 p.m. as the NHP Highway Patrol Division continues its investigation.
