Fatal Highway 33 crash results in one death and one critical injury.

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 33 in Crete on Nov. 13, 2025, left one driver dead and another critically injured. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred around 9:48 p.m. when a 2013 white Ford Fusion, driven by Hermelinda Reynoso, 27, of Milford, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2010 blue Honda Accord Crosstour operated by Alyssa Jeffrey, 24, of Friend.

Both vehicles suffered severe damage, trapping the drivers inside. Alyssa Jeffrey was airlifted to a local hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition. Hermelinda Reynoso was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities suspect that alcohol may have contributed to the crash, with ongoing investigations into the potential roles of speed and distracted driving. Highway 33 experienced closures for approximately six hours as the Crash Reconstruction Team analyzed the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked Crete Fire & Rescue, Southwest Rural Fire, Lincoln Fire & Rescue, and StarCare for their response efforts. The investigation remains active.
