One person is dead following a truck and motorcycle collision at an intersection in Spanaway on Friday evening.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 5 p.m. to the crash at the intersection of 176th Street and Waller Road. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesperson Steve Richards. The truck driver and passengers sustained no injuries.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash, but no arrests have been made. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
Officials have closed off the intersection for the investigation, with an expected reopening in one to one-and-a-half hours. Traffic is being diverted at 176th Street and Canyon Road.
This marks the second motorcycle fatality in Pierce County this week. In a separate incident, an intoxicated driver struck a 63-year-old motorcyclist in South Hill on Wednesday, leading to the driver’s arrest on charges of driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.
