Fatal Rollover Crash Near Reno Fernley Raceway Linked to Series of Events.

July 20, 3:15 p.m. Update
A driver was pronounced dead following a rollover crash on U.S. 50 Alternate near the Reno Fernley Raceway on July 17.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:02 p.m. in Lyon County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. A blue Chevrolet Trailblazer, traveling north, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Chevrolet Silverado heading south.

Preliminary findings indicate the Trailblazer left the roadway, struck a paddle marker, and overturned after hitting a fence and several wooden poles on private property. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel. There were no passengers in the Trailblazer, and the driver of the Silverado reported no injuries.

North Lyon Fire and other responders arrived shortly after the crash to assist. The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the incident.

July 17, 4:22 p.m. Update
North Lyon Fire was dispatched at 2:41 p.m. to a single-vehicle rollover on US 95A near the Reno Fernley Raceway. Firefighters found Lyon County Sheriff’s Office personnel on site performing life-saving measures.

Despite efforts from first responders, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed there were no passengers in the vehicle.
