HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ — Grey Dimenna, 72, died in a motorcycle crash at 3:44 p.m. on March 26 on Rt. 519 in Kingwood Township.
According to State Police, Dimenna was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound when he collided head-on with a Dodge pick-up truck traveling north. He was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries; the pick-up truck driver sustained minor injuries but remained at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time.
Dimenna was a resident of Lambertville and previously served as the president of Monmouth University from 2017 to 2019. He also held positions as general counsel and vice president at the university and was a retired lawyer.
According to a statement from current Monmouth University President Patrick Leahy, Dimenna was known for mentoring student interns and focusing on student success throughout his career.
Monmouth University announced his death on March 27. In honor of Dimenna, his family has requested charitable donations to the Grey J. Dimenna and Nancy Kaplen Distinguished Endowed Scholarship. Donations may be sent to Monmouth University’s University Advancement office in West Long Branch, NJ, or made online.
