WATERLOO, Iowa — A former police officer pleaded guilty to homicide by motor vehicle and operating while intoxicated (OWI) related to a fatal crash.
According to court documents, Keaton Northup was driving over 100 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on I-380 when he crashed in June 2024. The incident resulted in the death of his girlfriend, 25-year-old Jenna Mills.
Authorities reported that Northup had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.292 at the time of the crash, more than three times the legal limit. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 24 in Black Hawk County District Court.
