Man Charged with DUI After Motorcycle Accident in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND — A 46-year-old man faces multiple charges following a motorcycle accident involving a fallen tree on Sunday, May 31, at 12:50 a.m.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, Rodney Gleason was involved in the incident while riding a motorcycle. Officers noted the smell of alcohol on Gleason’s breath during their interaction. He completed several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests but refused to finish all required evaluations. A subsequent breath test confirmed he was over the legal limit for alcohol.
Gleason has been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) – alcohol, a Class W misdemeanor; Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, a Class 3 felony; and Driving Under Suspension, a Class 3 misdemeanor. He was arraigned in Hall County Court on June 1, with bail set at 10 percent of $10,000.
An administrative records check revealed Gleason’s driver’s license was suspended and that he is a convicted felon. Officers found a wooden baton and a four-inch fixed blade knife in his possession at the time of the arrest.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 22 at 3 p.m. Gleason was booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
