CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Two serious car crashes occurred on the same street in Chicopee within 24 hours, prompting investigations by local authorities.
The first crash, which was fatal, took place at the intersection of Meadow and Chicopee Street on Wednesday at approximately 8 p.m. Emergency responders extracted two individuals from a vehicle, both of whom were transported to Baystate Medical Center. The driver later succumbed to injuries, while the passenger is expected to recover.
The second incident occurred on Thursday around 2 p.m., involving a motorcycle and a car near the intersection of Chicopee and John Street. Witnesses reported debris scattered across the roadway.
Al Kendall, a resident nearby, observed the scene shortly after the crash, noting significant debris and damage. He remarked on the frequency of such accidents in the area, attributing them to driver carelessness.
Thursday’s accident resulted in a temporary road closure lasting about one hour. Authorities have not yet confirmed the extent of injuries from this crash. The Chicopee Police Crash Reconstruction Team is actively investigating both incidents.
