A motorcycle accident on Thursday, July 17, near Dillon led to the death of an 82-year-old motorcyclist from Draper, Utah.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Interstate 15 when a pickup truck, driven by a 26-year-old man from Eureka, attempted to pass the motorcycle and failed to notice it in the left lane. The truck’s trailer collided with the motorcycle’s sidecar, causing the rider to be thrown from the bike.
Emergency responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities reported that alcohol and drugs are suspected factors in the incident.
The Montana Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation and is reconstructing the events leading up to the crash. Officials are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward.
