Iredell County Motorcyclist Dies in I-77 Crash.

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A crash involving a motorcycle and two vehicles on Interstate 77 resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man Thursday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the accident occurred around 6:10 a.m. in the southbound toll lane of I-77 near Langtree Road.

Investigators reported that Jeffrey Tyler Robertson, riding a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle, lost control due to a tire failure, leading to an overturned vehicle.

The motorcycle detached from Robertson, crossed the lane attenuators, and was subsequently struck by a tractor-trailer, according to investigators.

Robertson was then struck by a 2020 Chevrolet SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports suggested a possible hit-and-run; however, after examining toll lane footage and dash camera video, investigators found no evidence of additional vehicles involved.

The investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been filed at this time.

Witnesses who have not yet contacted law enforcement are encouraged to reach the Highway Patrol Communications Center at 828-466-5500.
