COWLEY COUNTY—One person died in a vehicle collision just before 9 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 77 Highway at 332nd Road, authorities said.
According to Cowley County Undersheriff Christina McDonald, a 2000 Dodge Stratus driven by 34-year-old Stephanie Thielen of Newkirk, Oklahoma, was attempting to cross U.S. 77 when it struck a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 37-year-old Shawn Calhoun of Arkansas City, Kansas.
Calhoun was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, and the roadway was temporarily closed for the investigation. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
