LOGAN — A 53-year-old Logan man died and two others were injured in a motorcycle-SUV collision on U.S. Highway 91 Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:59 p.m. at the intersection of southbound U.S. 91 and 11600 North, near Campbell’s Snacks, according to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).
Authorities reported the motorcyclist was riding a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide southbound when a Ford Expedition, driven by a 25-year-old woman from Beaver Dam, pulled away from a stop sign on 11600 North, heading west across the highway. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the SUV.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver of the Ford Expedition, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Cache Valley Specialty Hospital. A front-seat passenger, a 52-year-old man also from Beaver Dam, sustained severe injuries and was later airlifted to Ogden Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment.
UHP Lt. Cade Brenchley noted that speed is under investigation as a potential factor in the crash. The Expedition’s driver was not arrested or cited at the scene, but charges may follow as the investigation continues.
