SALUDA, S.C. (WIS) – One man has been arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash in Saluda County on Wednesday night.
Ryan Boyd, 25, of Batesburg-Leesville, is charged with felony hit-and-run in connection with the incident that resulted in a fatality.

Saluda County Coroner Angie Rita identified the victim as Mark Whorton, 61, of Monetta, Aiken County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 10:10 p.m. on Columbia Highway (U.S. 378) near Roseland Drive. A 2000 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling west when it struck a deer, leading to Whorton’s ejection onto the roadway, where he was subsequently struck by another vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that Whorton was pronounced dead on the scene. Boyd allegedly fled the area following the collision.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Saluda County Coroner’s Office involved.
