Stafford, N.Y. — A man was arrested after a fatal two-vehicle crash on the New York State Thruway in Genesee County Friday night.
New York State Police reported that Patrick Hastings, 67, of Churchville, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 near Stafford at 8:50 p.m. when his vehicle collided with a pickup truck, causing it to overturn. The driver of the truck, Scott Berberian, 56, of Syracuse, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, Hastings, who was unharmed, exhibited signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. He has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, DWI, and multiple vehicle and traffic offenses.
Hastings was taken to Genesee County Jail for arraignment. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
