JASPER COUNTY — A motorcycle crash in Jasper County Saturday night resulted in the death of a Pineland man and left his wife critically injured.
Bradley “Brad” Stoddard, 37, died at the scene of the crash on Highway 96 around 11:25 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). His wife, Margaret Stoddard, 37, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in the ICU.
The couple was riding their motorcycle when it collided with a Ram 3500 pickup truck, which allegedly failed to yield while exiting a parking lot near the Black Sheep Saloon. DPS identified the driver of the truck as 41-year-old Jesse Arceneaux of Beaumont. He was not injured.
Authorities said Arceneaux has been arrested on charges of Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault and is being held in the Jasper County Jail with a total bond set at $225,000. The case remains under investigation.
