WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run crash at a roundabout on Maple Road and Drake Road on June 1 at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities said a dark-colored SUV struck the motorcyclist as it traveled westbound through the roundabout. After briefly stopping, the SUV fled the scene.
The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital by the West Bloomfield Fire Department and is currently in stable condition. Initial reports indicated life-threatening injuries; the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Investigators do not yet have a description of the driver or further identifying details about the SUV but believe it may have sustained front bumper damage.
Emergency crews temporarily closed the intersection during their response but have since reopened it.
