WALDORF, MD – A Bryans Road man died Thursday night following a collision between his motorcycle and a car in Waldorf, according to Maryland State Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:34 p.m. near the intersection of Route 228 and Greenwood Drive. Authorities said Michael Alexander Jr., 36, was traveling westbound when a Ford Taurus, driven by another individual, attempted a left turn from the opposite direction, resulting in the crash.
The motorcycle collided with the Taurus, causing the Ford to veer into Greenwood Drive, where it struck a parked Toyota Highlander before crashing into a nearby house. Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Taurus was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Investigators are looking into the possibility of excessive speed being a contributing factor, though no definitive cause has been established as the investigation continues. Lanes along Route 228 were closed for over two hours while authorities assessed the site.
Maryland State Police urge any witnesses or individuals with relevant information to contact Sgt. Justin Zimmerman at 301-392-1231.
