Motorcycle Crash in Wabasha County Injures Two Riders
WABASHA, MN – A motorcycle crash on Thursday morning injured two Brooklyn Park residents at the intersection of Hwy. 61 and Wabasha County Rd. 77.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. when an SUV and a motorcycle, both traveling south, collided at the intersection. The SUV’s driver, 79-year-old Donald Anthony Evanson of Minnesota City, was uninjured.
The motorcycle, driven by 38-year-old Eric James Schwarz with 62-year-old passenger Susan Diane Schwarz, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Eric was treated at the scene, while Susan was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Authorities stated that neither alcohol nor unsafe gear was a factor in the crash; both motorcyclists wore helmets, and Evanson was buckled up. Emergency response included the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Wabasha Fire Department, and Wabasha Ambulance.
The incident remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol. Lane closures were reported at the intersection as crews worked on the scene.
