SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (WCHS) — A motorcycle crash on Interstate 77 closed the left lanes in both directions on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 12:15 p.m. at exit 114 of I-77 South, according to Metro 911.
Authorities reported that one rider was on the motorcycle, wearing a helmet, which was dislodged during the crash.
The rider was transported to a local hospital with significant head and face injuries and was reported unconscious but breathing, deputies said.
Both northbound and southbound fast lanes of I-77 were closed for emergency response, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigation into the crash is underway, but no further details about the cause have been disclosed.
