Motorcyclist Arrested for Fatal Crash in Larimer County
A 62-year-old motorcyclist was arrested Tuesday for a fatal crash involving a bicyclist in Larimer County on April 27.
Wilson Arikita faces charges of vehicular homicide-reckless driving, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The incident occurred at approximately 1:21 p.m. on Larimer County Road 38E near Milner Mountain Ranch Road, where Arikita allegedly collided with 68-year-old Ian Dickinson, a Fort Collins resident.
Authorities said the investigation revealed Arikita was traveling eastbound on the motorcycle when he failed to navigate a left-hand curve after overtaking another motorcycle. The motorcycle veered onto the right shoulder and struck Dickinson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office ruled Dickinson’s death an accident caused by multiple blunt force injuries.
Trooper Sherri Mendez stated that the investigation took several months due to the volume of evidence collected. “Thoroughness is essential to building a comprehensive case for the court,” she noted.
Arikita is scheduled for his first court appearance at 8:30 a.m. on February 5 in the 8th Judicial District Court in Fort Collins, as per the Larimer County booking report.
