Philadelphia, PA (February 28, 2026) — A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision when a detached vehicle struck him in the Frankford neighborhood.
According to Philadelphia Police, the incident occurred around 4:13 p.m. on the 4000 block of Frankford Avenue. A tow truck traveling southbound had a silver 2005 Dodge Magnum it was hauling become detached and roll into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, identified as Jason Harvey of Southampton, was thrown from his bike and rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the tow truck fled the scene after the accident. Authorities reviewed surveillance footage from local businesses to identify the towing company involved. Representatives from the company arrived later to cooperate with the investigation, but the specific driver remains at large and is wanted for hit-and-run.
Philadelphia Police are actively investigating the incident. Lane closures were in effect to facilitate the investigation, and no additional injuries were reported.
