Motorcyclist Dies After Multi-Vehicle Crash In Ocean County

Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Toms River Man

SOUTH TOMS RIVER — A 25-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash that resulted in a chain-reaction collision Monday evening, according to authorities.

The incident occurred shortly before 5:40 p.m. on January 5 at Atlantic City Boulevard near Mathis Plaza. Officers from the South Toms River Police Department responded to reports of an unconscious motorcyclist, who was receiving lifesaving care upon their arrival.

The motorcyclist, identified as Kenneth Gerisch of Toms River, was transported to Community Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators reported that Gerisch was traveling south on Herflicker Boulevard when he lost control of his motorcycle while merging onto Atlantic City Boulevard. The bike fell on its side, sliding into oncoming traffic and colliding with two vehicles.

The crash response involved the Toms River Fire Department, South Toms River First Aid Squad, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
