BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday morning after colliding with a deer on SR-13.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near milepost 29 as the unidentified rider, wearing a helmet, was traveling northbound. The bike, a Suzuki VL1, lost control and slid along the fog line after striking the animal.
The Utah Department of Public Safety confirmed the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders were dispatched, but no further medical aid was provided.
In a related incident, earlier Thursday, a pickup truck driver sustained critical injuries after hitting a cow on US-89/91 in Logan, which led to a collision with a UPS delivery truck. The pickup driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital.
Authorities are continuing to investigate both accidents. Lane closures were in effect on SR-13 during the incident response.
