VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A motorcyclist died early Monday morning after colliding with a Virginia Beach Police Department vehicle following a pursuit by Virginia State Police.
The incident began around 2:41 a.m. when VSP attempted to stop the motorcycle for reckless driving on I-264. According to authorities, the driver refused to pull over, exceeding speeds of 100 mph.
After exiting I-264 at Lynnhaven Parkway, the motorcyclist crashed into a VBPD vehicle while crossing Fern Ridge Road, resulting in the rider being ejected. Confirmed reports indicate that the motorcyclist died at the scene.
The VBPD officer involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
