GASTON, Ind. — A motorcycle and semi-truck collision resulted in one fatality in Delaware County on March 9, 2023, around 9 p.m.
Authorities responded to the incident on State Road 28, just east of Interstate 69, near the Petro Truck Stop. The collision involved a semi-truck, driven eastbound by a woman from North Carolina, which reportedly turned into the path of a westbound motorcycle operated by a man from Selma, Indiana.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained on-site and is cooperating with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation.
A third vehicle traveling east on State Road 28 reported potential contact with debris from the crash; however, no injuries were reported from that vehicle.
State Road 28 was closed in both directions following the crash. According to an alert from INDOT, all lanes reopened at approximately 6:15 a.m. on March 10.
