A motorcyclist was killed Saturday in a crash on southbound Interstate 15 in Rancho Bernardo, California, shortly after midnight.
The collision occurred at approximately 12:38 a.m. near Camino del Norte, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A pickup truck driver reported that the motorcycle collided with the rear of his vehicle, leaving the rider down in the fast lane.
Details regarding the rider’s condition at the time of the incident remain unclear. Authorities have not confirmed whether the motorcyclist succumbed to injuries at the scene or later at a hospital.
Southbound I-15 was closed just north of Bernardo Center at around 12:50 a.m. The roadway was reopened to traffic by 2:15 a.m. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
