Motorcyclist Killed in I-495 Crash Near Telegraph Road
A motorcyclist was killed yesterday afternoon following a collision with a pickup truck on the Capital Beltway (I-495) in Rose Hill.
Virginia State Police responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 3:54 p.m., just west of Exit 176 to Telegraph Road. According to officials, the motorcyclist was found lying in the roadway with bystanders attempting to provide assistance.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the motorcyclist, still unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle involved was a 2005 Suzuki.
As of last night, authorities were working to notify the next of kin. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This crash marks the first fatal motorcycle accident in Fairfax County this year. Last year, the county reported five fatal motorcycle crashes, with 11 recorded in 2024, the only year with double-digit fatalities since the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ Traffic Records Electronic Data System (TREDS) began tracking data in 2010.
