Morning collision at County Road 7 shuts down roadway and prompts multi-agency response

LOVELAND, Colo. — A collision on Thursday morning at Highway 402 and County Road 7 has resulted in one fatality and one injury.

At approximately 8 a.m. on April 16, a motorcycle and an SUV collided at the intersection. According to the Loveland Police Department, a 23-year-old man from Loveland was riding a Suzuki GSX motorcycle eastbound when a 47-year-old woman from Greeley, driving a GMC Acadia, attempted to turn left onto County Road 7.

The SUV moved into the motorcycle’s path during the turn, resulting in the rider being ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Acadia sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that speed may have contributed to the incident, though authorities stated there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.

The Loveland Police Department’s CRASH Team is spearheading the investigation, with the intersection closed for approximately three hours for safety measures and scene management.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will disclose the identity of the deceased rider later. Multiple agencies, including Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and Thompson Valley EMS, responded to the scene.

Authorities extended condolences to those impacted by the crash and highlighted the ongoing safety concerns at high-speed rural intersections.
