Motorcyclist Dies After Fall from Providence Overpass
A 26-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash on Route 6 west in Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday evening.
Rhode Island State Police and the Providence Fire Department responded to the single-vehicle incident near the Route 10 south interchange at approximately 5:30 p.m. Authorities found a black Kawasaki motorcycle on its side in the travel lane.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcycle struck a high-speed barrier while navigating a turn, resulting in the driver being ejected from the overpass. He fell approximately 60 feet, landing on a dirt embankment below.
The driver, identified as Cedrix Teixeira from Bridgewater, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, according to state police.
