Motorcyclist fatally injured after running red light in north Phoenix, according to police.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed after running a red light and colliding with another vehicle in northern Phoenix on Sunday morning.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to Cactus Road at the on-off ramp for State Route 51 following reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the motorcyclist, later identified as Andre Grant, suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Preliminary investigations suggest Grant was traveling eastbound on Cactus Road and ran a red light as the other driver was making a left turn on a green arrow to access the freeway.

The investigation is ongoing.
