TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas – A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on TX-130 Toll early Tuesday morning.
According to Texas DPS, the incident occurred on July 28 at approximately 5:10 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Decker Lake Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcycle experienced a rear tire blowout, causing the rider to lose control and be ejected into the roadway, while the motorcycle came to a stop on the shoulder.
An SUV struck the rider and initially fled the scene; however, the driver returned and has since been charged with failure to stop and render aid. Additionally, the motorcyclist was reportedly hit by a second vehicle, a Tesla operating in autopilot mode, which allegedly failed to detect the rider.
Emergency services pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene, according to DPS. The crash is under investigation.
